Ebun Eje
Blood is a Gift
A life-saving campaign encouraging Black African and Caribbean donors to give blood - where donation rates are critically low but the need is highest.
Why it matters
Sickle cell disease - most common in people of Black African heritage - requires regular matched blood transfusions. Donors from similar ethnic backgrounds are critical to saving lives.
The statistics
Only 1% of blood donors in the UK are from Black heritage backgrounds, despite Black communities making up a significant portion of those who need matched blood.
What IOY does
We run community donation drives in October (Black History Month) and beyond, partnering with NHS Blood and Transplant to make donating visible and celebrated in our community.
Ebun Eje - Blood is a gift.
You can save up to 3 lives with a single donation. Register as a blood donor today, or contact us to get involved with the Ebun Eje campaign.
