IOY turns 2. A proper Yoruba owambe celebrating community, Nigerian Independence, and raising funds for Lisa Academy - live band, food, trad and dancing.
Ijoko Omo Yoruba's biggest celebration yet. As we mark 2 years of IOY and celebrate Nigerian Independence, we're bringing back the nostalgic hall party - live band, dancing, dressing up in trad, and a proper Yoruba owanbe. We'll also be fundraising for Lisa Academy, a free boarding school in Lagos supporting children who need it most. On the night: authentic Yoruba food (Abula, Ayamase, puff puff and more), a live Yoruba band alongside a DJ playing Afrobeats, Fuji, Juju and Apala, hall party games, prizes and networking, professional gele artists, and photography and videography all night. Dress code: Yoruba traditional attire - asọ òkè, adìrẹ, Ankara, lace, or that asoebi you've only worn once. Doors open 5PM, close 6PM sharp - no African timing. 21+, ID required.
